hong kong horse racing season runs from september through july (it’s too hot in the summer). there are generally two or three meets a week, with weekend day races at the course in shatin, and wednesday night races at the smaller course in happy valley.

we went to the race on wednesday night at happy valley (HKD$10 to get in, you can use the octopus card). there you see people with newspapers in hand, groups of investment bankers, with their ties loosened, holding pints. the excitement was infectious! we bought once, based on statistics and the name of the horse lol. but then of course he or she didn’t win. overall it was an incredible experience. if you have never been to the hong kong jockey club racetrack then you should definitely go.

ohhhh the uncertainties of weather these days! spring is just starting but already it’s really hot outside! all the long sleeves and cardigans i brought with me to hong kong are useless! but i guess that provides one more reason for me to shop huh? boy do they have massive malls here, and they are everywhere! no wonder they say that hong kong is a shopaholic’s dream! but contrary to what you might think, i didn’t get to buy a lot of stuff. it is my first time in hong kong so i try to get out and see as much as i could =)

check out these pretty outfits put together by b+ab, inspired by the characters from the movie “alice in wonderland”, starring johnny depp as mad hatter, helena bonham carter as the red queen, anne hathaway as the white queen, and mia wasikowska as alice ( i loved her in “in treatment”). the outfits and the hat worn by johnny depp himself were being displayed in hong kong’s new town plaza.
